Awesome Dog-Friendly Beaches and Walks

The beaches of Mendocino County are beautiful; all along the coast. What makes them even more special? The fact that they are all dog friendly (on a leash) unless you find the hidden few on the coast where you can let your four legged friends run free!

Big River Beach

Big River Beach is one of the best pet friendly beaches in Mendocino. It is a scenic, easily accessible spot where the river meets the ocean, keeping your kids and pets safe from any sneaker waves while you soak in the fresh coastal air. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk, soaking in the views, or enjoying the fresh coastal air. Dogs are always welcome, just remember to keep them leashed while you explore.

Noyo Beach

If your best friend needs some off-leash freedom, Noyo Beach in Fort Bragg is a great choice. Located in the heart of Noyo Harbor, this beach offers plenty of space for dogs to run, play, and splash in the waves. This pet friendly beach is an off leash beach.  It’s a more laid-back spot, perfect for letting your pup burn off energy while you enjoy the fresh ocean air and harbor views.

4.
Seaside Beach

Owned by the Mendocino Land Trust and located 10 miles north of Fort Bragg, this is one of the region’s most stunning white-sand beaches, and also allows for off-leash dogs. Just please take care not to let them enter or cross Ten Mile River, which is protected.

5.
Greenwood Beach State Park

Towns don’t come much smaller than Elk, with a population of under 300, but you can bet that every one of those souls is grateful for this stunning, dog-friendly beach, with its ubiquitous driftwood forts and evocative rocky shore.
