Day 1

Day 2

Morning

Wake up slowly and start your day at Bluebird Cafe, a local favorite where the coffee is strong and the breakfast is simple, hearty and satisfying. It’s the kind of place where you ease into the day without rushing.

After breakfast, head to the Hopland Research and Extension Center. Spend your morning walking the rolling hills, where sheep graze as part of a carefully managed ecosystem. This is your chance to see regenerative agriculture in action how soil health, grazing and biodiversity all work together in a living system.

Afternoon

From there, make your way north to Ukiah for lunch at Patrona, a farm-to-table restaurant known for highlighting local ingredients in thoughtful, seasonal dishes. Take your time here this is a meal meant to be savored.

After lunch, explore downtown Ukiah at your own pace. Wander into local shops or stop by the MEDIUM Art Gallery, where contemporary works offer a creative contrast to the morning’s pastoral landscapes.

Evening

As evening settles in, head to Cultivo for dinner. Fresh  dishes meet a relaxed inland setting an unexpected but fitting way to end the day.

After dinner, return to Thatcher Hotel, the quiet of the countryside wrapping up another deeply rooted day.

Day 3

Morning

Start your day with a quick, cozy stop at Cafe Poppy. Grab a simple breakfast and a cup of coffee to go something warm in hand as the morning air feels fresh and quiet.

From there, head out into Redwood Valley for a visit to Testa Ranch. Take a peaceful ranch walk through open land and vineyards, where the connection between agriculture and ecosystem is easy to see. Spot farm animals, wander past rows of vines, and take in the wide, sunlit landscape it’s a slower, more intimate way to experience the region.

Afternoon

After your morning on the ranch, head to Club Calpella Restaurant for lunch. This local favorite has a relaxed, welcoming feel settle in and enjoy a satisfying, no-rush meal.

Next, make your way to Lake Mendocino and the nearby Coyote Valley Fish Hatchery. Learn how fish populations are supported and restored an important piece of the region’s broader ecological stewardship.

Day 4

Morning

Wake up slowly and savor your final moments at Thatcher Hotel. When you’re ready, gather your things and check out of the hotel, easing into the day without rushing. Make your way to Steep Coffee for a light breakfast. Sip a thoughtfully brewed coffee or tea and enjoy a small, nourishing bite a gentle, unhurried start to your final day.

Afternoon

Before heading home, stop for one last memorable meal at Stock Farm. Surrounded by the same agricultural landscape that has shaped your entire trip, enjoy a seasonal lunch that brings everything full circle fresh ingredients, intentional preparation and a deep connection to the land.

 

Tips & Extras

When to Visit

Late spring through fall offers the most vibrant experience lush hills, active farms and long golden evenings. Harvest season brings an especially rich energy to the region.

What to Pack

Pack with comfort and flexibility in mind, as your days will move between relaxed meals, farm visits, and time outdoors. Lightweight layers are key mornings and evenings can be cool, while afternoons often warm up quickly. Bring comfortable walking shoes for exploring ranches, vineyards and uneven terrain, along with sun protection like a hat and sunscreen. A reusable water bottle is helpful for staying hydrated throughout the day, and a tote bag comes in handy for any farm stand finds or local goods you may want to bring home.
