Picture a rolling meadow, horses gently grazing on the grass, and rooster crows through the morning dew. Indulge in a homemade farm breakfast and coffee in our 100-year-old farmhouse and take a stroll through an old-growth Redwood forest. This is Farm Stay Inn of Philo, California. Our mission is to produce whole, organic foods to feed our staff and guests, treat our animals and property with respect and kindness, and create a beautiful and relaxing experience for you and your guests. The farm has a  Certified Organic produce garden, happy free-range chickens that produce delicious eggs, and a small herd of East Friesian Sheep that give sheep milk.

For weddings, the farm has two main event spaces, a rustic horse barn, and Highland Lake.  The barn has been renovated with hardwood floors, strings of lights hanging from the rafters, and a custom redwood bar, built from a fallen tree on our property.  The lake is surrounded by acres of meadows and a border of pine, fir, oak, and redwood trees.  Horses roam the meadows when not carrying riders on the trails that run all over the property.

Blackbird Farm is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating students about sustainable living, agriculture, and livestock. The farm strives to create personal and social change through Sustainable Agriculture, so we farm in a way that grows the best possible food, and grows the next generation of youth leaders along with it. Blackbird Farm has a large kitchen garden as well as a farm plot maintained off-season by visiting youth plus orchards of organically produced pears, apples, cherries, plums, and walnuts.
