SUMMARY:"Dancing Lessons" by Mark St. Germain at Mendocino Theatre Company
DESCRIPTION:Dancing Lessons tells the story of Ever\, a young man with Asperger’s syndrome\, who seeks the instruction of a Broadway dancer to learn enough dancing to survive an awards dinner. The dancer\, Senga\, however\, is recovering from an injury that may stop her dancing career permanently. As their relationship unfolds\, they’re both caught off-guard by the discoveries – both hilarious and heartwarming – that they make about each other and about themselves.\nDANCING LESSONS is a play about risk taking and finding the courage to step outside our comfort zones; it is a story about what seeming opposites can teach each other\, and it is a tale which offers no pat answers – only the comfort of human contact and sharing. \n“extraordinary romantic comedy … 90 minutes of theater that are never less than provocative\, fresh\, and unexpectedly moving. “\nThe Arts Fuse\n“…a poignant\, quirky romantic comedy that becomes a heartwarming pas de deux between its injured dancer heroine and a geoscientist with Asperger’s Syndrome\, charting the uncharted territory of human friendship and intimacy. “\nBROADWAY WORLD\n“What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool? You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave\, chatting and socializing and not getting anything done.”\n– Temple Grandin\n“Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music.”\n– George Carlin \nPreviews:\nThursday\, May 7 – 7:30 p.m.\nFriday\, May 8 – 7:30 p.m.\nTickets – $16.25 – $21.50\nGala Opening:\nSaturday\, May 9 – 7:30 p.m.\nTickets – $26.25 – $56.50\nPay What You Will Performance:\nThursday\, May 14 – 7:30 p.m.\nPlaying May 7 – May 31\nThursday\, Friday\, Saturday – 7:30 p.m.\nSunday matinee – 2:00 p.m.\n$21.25 – $37.50 \nTickets available at www.mendocinotheatre.org or 707-937-4477 \nWith Lucas Kiehn-Thilman and Nikki Traber

SUMMARY:iContact- the tactile TECH opera
DESCRIPTION:I welcome you to experience this strange immersive experimental performance exploring our relationship with technology\, Nature and each other. The non-linear narrative follows Beings all the way from galactic goo to human to mostly robotic human. This space takes a stand against the numbness epidemic on planet Earth. This is a feelings opera. As an audience member you are invited into collective choreography and collaborative arias. Please wear all black and something you can move freely in\, and know that shoes will be left to the side near the entrance. There are some chairs\, but mostly cushions and rugs on the ground for comfortable sitting. At times\, you will also stand. There are a number of parts that we 7 performers cannot do without you. The performance is 2:22 hours with an intermission around the half way point. We look forward to going on this transformative journey with you. \nLove\, Beth & the iContact team
