DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 27\, 2026 – Gates open at 8:30 p.m.\, Tour around 9 p.m. \nExperience a spectacular nighttime view . . . \n. . . from atop the Point Arena Lighthouse. Enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and coast from the lantern room at the top of the Tower\, and if the weather cooperates\, it will be illuminated by the full moon! Our docents and guides will help you experience what it was like to be a Lighthouse Keeper and climb the Tower at night. They will guide you on your journey into the past and explain the unique history of this historic landmark\, the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast. Champagne\, sparkling juice\, and sweet and savory snacks will be served as part of the tour\, and you get to take home an etched Point Arena Lighthouse champagne flute as a souvenir of this unique experience! \nAccording to the Old Farmer’s Almanac\, this Full Moon got its name from the Algonquin tribes in eastern North America who knew it as a signal to gather the ripening fruit of wild strawberries. It has also been known as the Honey Moon\, Mead Moon\, and the Full Rose Moon in Europe. \nAll proceeds go toward supporting and maintaining the Lighthouse Tower\, Museum\, and grounds. Thank you for your generous support\, Point Arena Lighthouse Keepers\, Inc. Tickets are $50 each. \nReservations must be made by phone at 877-725-4448 ext. 1 or 707-882-2809 ext. 1 or in person no later than 3:30 p.m. three (3) days before the event date. We require a minimum of eight (8) reservations to conduct the tour\, and there is a limit of 20 guests per tour. If we reach the minimum three (3) days before the event\, we will accept additional reservations (up to a total of 20 guests) until the day of the tour. We do not accept walk-ins unless we have not reached the maximum number of guests. \nCancellation policy: No refunds are given if you cancel your reservation three days or less before the event. Tours will be canceled if less than eight (8) guests sign up before three (3) days before the tour. You will receive a full refund if the event is canceled. Please call our Reservation Desk at 877-725-4448 ext. 1 or 707-882-2809 ext. 1 three (3) days before the tour to confirm the event is happening as scheduled.

Parking and shuttle service will be available from City Hall throughout the event. \nThe celebration continues on Sunday\, July 5\, with the beloved Point Arena Independence Day Parade beginning at noon along Main Street/Hwy 1. This hometown tradition brings the community together with colorful floats\, fire trucks\, classic cars\, dancers\, horses\, drum corps\, art cars\, and plenty of surprises for all ages. Join locals and visitors alike for a festive weekend celebrating summer\, community\, and Independence Day on the beautiful Mendocino Coast.

SUMMARY:Willits Frontier Days CCPRA Professional Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:The California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association is a group of top-ranked cowgirls and cowboys who participate on a circuit of professional-grade rodeos throughout the state. \nThe contestants participate in eight events; bareback\, saddle bronc\, team roping\, calf roping\, steer wrestling\, breakaway roping\, barrel racing and bull riding hoping to win the coveted All-Around title. After the points from all the events are tallied\, the cowgirl and cowboy with the highest cumulative scores win the title\, coordinating engraved buckle created at Outlaw Saddlery\, a wad of cold hard cash and bragging rights for the duration of the year. \nThe livestock for the events\, the bulls\, broncs and horned-alike — ‘rodeo stock’ as they are referred to in the trade — are provided by Humboldt County’s Lou Bugenig of West Coast Rodeos. Known throughout the state as premiere stock contractors\, West Coast bulls and broncs give the boys a challenge to hang on to\, and the steer and calves try to give the ladies a run for their money. \nIn addition to the eight CCPRA rodeo events\, cowboys and cowgirls from Lake\, Mendocino and Humboldt counties can compete in local team roping events as well. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the first Red\, White & Blue Race! This event benefits Code 3 Mind Health\, Inc. We are a local non-profit that provides mind health services for first responders. \nThis course is along the scenic coastal trail in Fort Bragg California. The event begins at the south coastal trail (Noyo Headlands Park) and continues north with the 5k turnaround being near the compass rose. If you participate in the 10k run\, you will continue north past historic Glass Beach\, and across the Pudding Creek Trestle onto the historic Mackerricher Haul Road with the turn around being near the “silver gate” entrance. For the half-marathon participants\, the course continues along the Haul Road\, through Mackerricher State Park and turning around just before the entrance to Ten Mile State Preserve. This course is ocean front\, with epic views every step of the way! For those of you that have participated in races in this area before\, it will look very much like the Whale Run course! \nAll runners will get a tee shirt – choice of long sleeve or short sleeve\nEnd of race will have fruit/water and coffee. \nCoffee will be available for entire event. \nFinisher medals will be given to all who complete the 1/2 marathon\nMedals for 1\, 2\, and 3 place for all age categories (copy age categories from Whale Run)\nAward baskets for 1st male and female finisher in each race (1/2\, 10k\, 5K)\, filled with local goodies! \nAll kiddie competitors get a finisher price\, but awards will be given to the first three to finish.

DESCRIPTION:The Mendocino Masonic Lodge will open its historic 1865 Lodge Room to the public for rare\, once-a-year guided tours\, providing presentations on Freemasonry by Masters of the Lodge. Masonic Brothers will be on hand to speak with you and answer any questions throughout the tour.\nFreemasonry’s leadership in the American Revolution will be celebrated on Saturday\, July 4\, when Mendocino Masonic Lodge #179 holds its Annual Community Open House to commemorate their nine Masonic Brothers who signed the Declaration of Independence\, on July 4\, 1776.\nThe Open House event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the landmark Mendocino Masonic Lodge Building\, located upstairs at the northwest corner of Lansing and Ukiah Streets in Mendocino. The Mendocino historic landmark building is easily recognizable by the single-piece\, outsized\, statue on the roof representing a scene of a secret Masonic ritual (see photo above). This iconic Masonic redwood carving symbolizes that time\, patience and perseverance will accomplish all things. Common Masonic symbols are Father Time\, a young women\, a broken column\, an urn\, a sprig of acacia\, and a book\, all six of which rest on the top level of three steps and are included in this 1865 extraordinary carving from a single piece of redwood that adorns the top of Mendocino Lodge #179. DESCRIPTION:The strip of Main Street between Commercial Street and East Valley Street gets a holiday-themed makeover on the morning of July 4 as the annual parade kicks off and turns the normally busy Highway 101 into a red\, white and blue extravaganza. \nCommunity members and visitors from all over the county and beyond line the sidewalks of historic downtown Willits to watch the glitter\, horses\, dancers\, floats\, balloons\, gunfighters\, bands\, flags\, tractors — and usually a surprise or two — march down Main Street. \nSeveral entrants have made the parade an annual or generational tradition for their families – some riding since they were just little buckaroos including members of the Standley\, Persico and many other families. \nAnnual favorites include the winning and runner-up Willits Frontier Days Sweetheart contestants\, the current Grand Marshall and Heritage Award Winners\, Roots of Motive Power antique logging equipment\, Willits Horsemen’s Association\, Willits Police Department\, Little Lake and Brooktrails Fire Departments\, Cal Fire & CDF as well as many other emergency personnel – with sirens and lights blazing\, of course. \nThe announcer’s stand\, located at the corner of East Mendocino Avenue and Main Street introduces each entry and provides information on each group or individual participant. It also serves as the stage for the winner of the National Anthem contest to sing at the opening of the parade. \nThough many stake out seats in the coveted shady locations in the early hours of the morning\, the parade starts at 11 a.m. and is free to attend

DESCRIPTION:Even as the parade comes to an end\, the sizzling aroma of barbequing beef can already be caught on the air\, wafting out of the barbeque pit at the Rec Grove Park. \nThe line can get long\, but anyone who’s been though it before can testify that it’s worth the wait – even when the team serves some 4\,000 people during the luncheon. \nPutting this monumental meal together takes the combined efforts of many local individuals\, service clubs and businesses. However\, under the direction of Mike Frahm and the help of many others the event continues to be a success. \nAnita Tharp and the barbecue fire crew light the coals around midnight to make sure they are just right by the time the cooks arrive around 6:00 a.m. The Odd Fellows Lodge\, Rotary Club and many dedicated volunteers work through the night and into the day preparing cowboy style beans\, salad\, garlic-buttered French bread and corn on the cob. \nRoasted over oak coals since the crack of dawn\, the Black Angus Tri-Tip Roast is absolutely delectable. Tickets are available from the Sweetheart contestants and at the event which starts at noon.

SUMMARY:Willits Frontier Days CCPRA Professional Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:The California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association is a group of top-ranked cowgirls and cowboys who participate on a circuit of professional-grade rodeos throughout the state. \nThe contestants participate in eight events; bareback\, saddle bronc\, team roping\, calf roping\, steer wrestling\, breakaway roping\, barrel racing and bull riding hoping to win the coveted All-Around title. After the points from all the events are tallied\, the cowgirl and cowboy with the highest cumulative scores win the title\, coordinating engraved buckle created at Outlaw Saddlery\, a wad of cold hard cash and bragging rights for the duration of the year. \nThe livestock for the events\, the bulls\, broncs and horned-alike — ‘rodeo stock’ as they are referred to in the trade — are provided by Humboldt County’s Lou Bugenig of West Coast Rodeos. Known throughout the state as premiere stock contractors\, West Coast bulls and broncs give the boys a challenge to hang on to\, and the steer and calves try to give the ladies a run for their money. \nIn addition to the eight CCPRA rodeo events\, cowboys and cowgirls from Lake\, Mendocino and Humboldt counties can compete in local team roping events as well.
