DESCRIPTION:Sundays in the Park Free Concert Series is the largest and most recognized community event in Mendocino County. Since 1992\, the series has thrilled the community with exceptional musical performances by artists from diverse genres including blues\, classical\, country\, salsa\, soul\, rock\, swing\, reggae and more. Each summer\, taking center stage in beautiful Todd Grove Park\, six free concerts featuring world-renowned artists as well as local talent\, entertain more than 20\,000 music fans.\nShawn Jones is an international touring Roots/Americana/Blues/Rock musician of over 30 years based in Southern California. Shawn tours with his band of “A level” touring/studio musicians as well as having a very dynamic solo show. Shawn performs over 200+ dates a year in the USA\, UK\, and EU.There are six studio album releases including Shawn’s new album “In My Blood” due out early 2024. The upcoming album is produced by legendary producer/engineer Niko Bolas and mastered by multi-Grammy winning mixing/mastering/producer Richard Dodd. The new release features world renowned musicians: Herman Matthews\, Ramon Yslas\, The Memphis Horns\, Sam Bolle\, Josie Aiello\, and Philip Parlapiano.\nIn recent years Shawn was invited to guest as opener for the five time Grammy winning legend Robert Cray on a 16 date theater tour of the UK and several shows in California.\nShawn’s skills as a seasoned songwriter\, guitarist and vocalist make him one of the most dynamic and relevant artists on today’s Americana/Roots/Blues/Rock music scene. Growing up in the heartland of Southern California\, one of Shawn’s earliest recollections as a boy was playing guitars and harmonizing with his late father Danny Jones. That formidable experience led him to follow his dreams as a professional musician.\nHe’s shared bills with many renowned musicians\, including B.B. King\, Robert Cray\, Buddy Guy\, Bonnie Raitt\, Waylon Jennings\, Willie Nelson\, Leon Russell\, Derek Trucks\, Robben Ford\, Joe Bonamassa\, and many others. Shawn was also managed by the late great country music legend Waylon Jennings for a time\, toured in his band\, and played on his 1996 release “Right For The Time”.\nHis variety of performances capture his audience whenever he’s playing an acoustic set that highlights his soulful voice and incredible guitar skills or rocking the crowd with his band of world class musicians.\n[Blue Luke Trio]Blue Luke Andrews is a guitarist\, producer\, and songwriter who began playing at age 12\, performing live by 14 and producing in the studio by 16. Recognized early as a “Blues/Rock Prodigy\,” he recorded his first solo album at 18 with Grammy-winning producer Dennis Walker and went on to lead Blue Luke & The Elements\, performing at clubs and festivals across California and internationally\, including Ireland. A Berklee College of Music graduate\, Luke later became lead guitarist for Julian Marley’s Uprising Band\, contributing as co-producer on the acclaimed album Awake. As the owner of Blue Luke Productions and Blazin’ Records\, and co-owner of Mendo Bass’d Operations\, he has produced a wide range of projects spanning local artists\, film scores\, and experimental music. His work includes collaborations with notable artists\, contributions to film soundtracks\, and performances at major festivals worldwide\, while continuing to write\, produce\, and develop new music projects.

SUMMARY:Willits Frontier Days CCPRA Professional Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:The California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association is a group of top-ranked cowgirls and cowboys who participate on a circuit of professional-grade rodeos throughout the state. \nThe contestants participate in eight events; bareback\, saddle bronc\, team roping\, calf roping\, steer wrestling\, breakaway roping\, barrel racing and bull riding hoping to win the coveted All-Around title. After the points from all the events are tallied\, the cowgirl and cowboy with the highest cumulative scores win the title\, coordinating engraved buckle created at Outlaw Saddlery\, a wad of cold hard cash and bragging rights for the duration of the year. \nThe livestock for the events\, the bulls\, broncs and horned-alike — ‘rodeo stock’ as they are referred to in the trade — are provided by Humboldt County’s Lou Bugenig of West Coast Rodeos. Known throughout the state as premiere stock contractors\, West Coast bulls and broncs give the boys a challenge to hang on to\, and the steer and calves try to give the ladies a run for their money. \nIn addition to the eight CCPRA rodeo events\, cowboys and cowgirls from Lake\, Mendocino and Humboldt counties can compete in local team roping events as well. Sponsored by the City of Mendocino. \nMendocino\, CA— July 2-12– This 2026 season\, Flynn Creek Circus invites audiences to ‘The Cricket & the Wren’ — memorable family fun and Artful athleticism under the circus big top.\nA merchant’s daughter sets out to find the castle where the horizon meets the sea. In order to break the spell of the Frog Prince\, she must brave a harrowing journey filled with wonder.\nAlong the adventure\, she encounters Jack and the Beanstalk’s sassy cow\, an out of pocket Pirate and the secret sacrifice of the cricket and the wren.\nFeaturing aerialists\, jugglers\, knife throwers\, and laugh out loud comedy\, this circus blends classic storybook archetypes with imaginative new heroes. The Cricket and the Wren will surprise\, dazzle and delight all ages.\nIn addition to the family friendly showings\, and the interactive children’s camp program held under the circus big top\, Flynn Creek Circus also presents the wildly popular ‘Adults Only Show’ boasting outrageous acts\, dark comedy\, and an infamous party atmosphere. Check the website for select adults only showtimes as well as special discount nights. \nSpectators for all showings are invited to the tent to experience the magic up to 30 minutes before each show. SUMMARY:Willits Frontier Days CCPRA Professional Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:The California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association is a group of top-ranked cowgirls and cowboys who participate on a circuit of professional-grade rodeos throughout the state. \nThe contestants participate in eight events; bareback\, saddle bronc\, team roping\, calf roping\, steer wrestling\, breakaway roping\, barrel racing and bull riding hoping to win the coveted All-Around title. After the points from all the events are tallied\, the cowgirl and cowboy with the highest cumulative scores win the title\, coordinating engraved buckle created at Outlaw Saddlery\, a wad of cold hard cash and bragging rights for the duration of the year. \nThe livestock for the events\, the bulls\, broncs and horned-alike — ‘rodeo stock’ as they are referred to in the trade — are provided by Humboldt County’s Lou Bugenig of West Coast Rodeos. Known throughout the state as premiere stock contractors\, West Coast bulls and broncs give the boys a challenge to hang on to\, and the steer and calves try to give the ladies a run for their money. \nIn addition to the eight CCPRA rodeo events\, cowboys and cowgirls from Lake\, Mendocino and Humboldt counties can compete in local team roping events as well. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Independence Day weekend in Point Arena with two days of community fun\, live entertainment\, and coastal tradition! On Friday\, July 3\, the festivities kick off at Arena Cove with the annual Fireworks Festival from 4 PM to 11 PM. Enjoy a lively street fair filled with delicious food\, local vendors\, crafts\, family activities\, a bouncy house\, and live music featuring Redwood Roots Revival\, Camilo y Los Cruzers\, Seal Party\, Wayward Jerry\, La Onda\, and DJ Here and There Records. As the sun sets\, gather along the coast for a spectacular fireworks show by Pyro Spectacular beginning at dark. Guests are encouraged to bring flashlights and jackets for the evening festivities. Parking and shuttle service will be available from City Hall throughout the event. \nThe celebration continues on Sunday\, July 5\, with the beloved Point Arena Independence Day Parade beginning at noon along Main Street/Hwy 1. This hometown tradition brings the community together with colorful floats\, fire trucks\, classic cars\, dancers\, horses\, drum corps\, art cars\, and plenty of surprises for all ages.
