DESCRIPTION:Kicking off the Willits Frontier Days event is the Hometown celebration that is held in the downtown blocks of Willits. Many vendors open their doors with specials and sales to those who come and celebrate for the evening. \nBooths are set up for many other businesses in the parking lot areas and several service groups\, clubs and organizations set up games and fun for the kids\, hold raffles and other interactive fun. Food\, treats and tasties are available from local restaurants and vendors who set up and serve many street-friendly eats for visitors’ strolls around town. \nThe event usually runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. DESCRIPTION:Sundays in the Park Free Concert Series is the largest and most recognized community event in Mendocino County. Since 1992\, the series has thrilled the community with exceptional musical performances by artists from diverse genres including blues\, classical\, country\, salsa\, soul\, rock\, swing\, reggae and more. Each summer\, taking center stage in beautiful Todd Grove Park\, six free concerts featuring world-renowned artists as well as local talent\, entertain more than 20\,000 music fans.\nShawn Jones is an international touring Roots/Americana/Blues/Rock musician of over 30 years based in Southern California. Shawn tours with his band of “A level” touring/studio musicians as well as having a very dynamic solo show. Shawn performs over 200+ dates a year in the USA\, UK\, and EU.There are six studio album releases including Shawn’s new album “In My Blood” due out early 2024. The upcoming album is produced by legendary producer/engineer Niko Bolas and mastered by multi-Grammy winning mixing/mastering/producer Richard Dodd. The new release features world renowned musicians: Herman Matthews\, Ramon Yslas\, The Memphis Horns\, Sam Bolle\, Josie Aiello\, and Philip Parlapiano.\nIn recent years Shawn was invited to guest as opener for the five time Grammy winning legend Robert Cray on a 16 date theater tour of the UK and several shows in California.\nShawn’s skills as a seasoned songwriter\, guitarist and vocalist make him one of the most dynamic and relevant artists on today’s Americana/Roots/Blues/Rock music scene. Growing up in the heartland of Southern California\, one of Shawn’s earliest recollections as a boy was playing guitars and harmonizing with his late father Danny Jones. That formidable experience led him to follow his dreams as a professional musician.\nHe’s shared bills with many renowned musicians\, including B.B. King\, Robert Cray\, Buddy Guy\, Bonnie Raitt\, Waylon Jennings\, Willie Nelson\, Leon Russell\, Derek Trucks\, Robben Ford\, Joe Bonamassa\, and many others. Shawn was also managed by the late great country music legend Waylon Jennings for a time\, toured in his band\, and played on his 1996 release “Right For The Time”.\nHis variety of performances capture his audience whenever he’s playing an acoustic set that highlights his soulful voice and incredible guitar skills or rocking the crowd with his band of world class musicians.\n[Blue Luke Trio]Blue Luke Andrews is a guitarist\, producer\, and songwriter who began playing at age 12\, performing live by 14 and producing in the studio by 16. Recognized early as a “Blues/Rock Prodigy\,” he recorded his first solo album at 18 with Grammy-winning producer Dennis Walker and went on to lead Blue Luke & The Elements\, performing at clubs and festivals across California and internationally\, including Ireland. A Berklee College of Music graduate\, Luke later became lead guitarist for Julian Marley’s Uprising Band\, contributing as co-producer on the acclaimed album Awake. As the owner of Blue Luke Productions and Blazin’ Records\, and co-owner of Mendo Bass’d Operations\, he has produced a wide range of projects spanning local artists\, film scores\, and experimental music. His work includes collaborations with notable artists\, contributions to film soundtracks\, and performances at major festivals worldwide\, while continuing to write\, produce\, and develop new music projects.

DESCRIPTION:The night sky overlooking the Jack Tharp Arena glows bright with the lights from the Johnston Amusements carnival every year. \nThe carnival offers rides\, food and fun for kids and adults. \nClassics like the Gravitron and the Zipper give those hoping for a thrill a run for their cotton candy and carnival games including darts\, ping pong balls for goldfish and more test the skills of all attendees. \nEveryone is welcome to enjoy tasty food including popcorn\, candy apples\, ice cream\, and treats as they stroll through the clean and well lit midway. \nJohnston Amusements has been bringing these quality family entertainment options to Central and Northern California fairs and festivals for over 50 years spanning three generations. \nThe street dances and band performances give the older crowd a chance to hang out with friends or make new ones while dancing the night away to DJ or band-made country tunes. The Beer Garden offers cowboys and cowgirls a watering hole\, and something for the youngsters to long for. Dances are held at the Rodeo Grounds usually from 9 pm until midnight.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Independence Day weekend in Point Arena with two days of community fun\, live entertainment\, and coastal tradition! On Friday\, July 3\, the festivities kick off at Arena Cove with the annual Fireworks Festival from 4 PM to 11 PM. Enjoy a lively street fair filled with delicious food\, local vendors\, crafts\, family activities\, a bouncy house\, and live music featuring Redwood Roots Revival\, Camilo y Los Cruzers\, Seal Party\, Wayward Jerry\, La Onda\, and DJ Here and There Records. As the sun sets\, gather along the coast for a spectacular fireworks show by Pyro Spectacular beginning at dark. Guests are encouraged to bring flashlights and jackets for the evening festivities. Parking and shuttle service will be available from City Hall throughout the event. \nThe celebration continues on Sunday\, July 5\, with the beloved Point Arena Independence Day Parade beginning at noon along Main Street/Hwy 1. This hometown tradition brings the community together with colorful floats\, fire trucks\, classic cars\, dancers\, horses\, drum corps\, art cars\, and plenty of surprises for all ages. Join locals and visitors alike for a festive weekend celebrating summer\, community\, and Independence Day on the beautiful Mendocino Coast.

DESCRIPTION:The night sky overlooking the Jack Tharp Arena glows bright with the lights from the Johnston Amusements carnival every year. \nThe carnival offers rides\, food and fun for kids and adults. \nClassics like the Gravitron and the Zipper give those hoping for a thrill a run for their cotton candy and carnival games including darts\, ping pong balls for goldfish and more test the skills of all attendees. \nEveryone is welcome to enjoy tasty food including popcorn\, candy apples\, ice cream\, and treats as they stroll through the clean and well lit midway. \nJohnston Amusements has been bringing these quality family entertainment options to Central and Northern California fairs and festivals for over 50 years spanning three generations. \nThe street dances and band performances give the older crowd a chance to hang out with friends or make new ones while dancing the night away to DJ or band-made country tunes. The Beer Garden offers cowboys and cowgirls a watering hole\, and something for the youngsters to long for. Dances are held at the Rodeo Grounds usually from 9 pm until midnight.

After the points from all the events are tallied\, the cowgirl and cowboy with the highest cumulative scores win the title\, coordinating engraved buckle created at Outlaw Saddlery\, a wad of cold hard cash and bragging rights for the duration of the year. \nThe livestock for the events\, the bulls\, broncs and horned-alike — ‘rodeo stock’ as they are referred to in the trade — are provided by Humboldt County’s Lou Bugenig of West Coast Rodeos. Known throughout the state as premiere stock contractors\, West Coast bulls and broncs give the boys a challenge to hang on to\, and the steer and calves try to give the ladies a run for their money. \nIn addition to the eight CCPRA rodeo events\, cowboys and cowgirls from Lake\, Mendocino and Humboldt counties can compete in local team roping events as well. DESCRIPTION:The strip of Main Street between Commercial Street and East Valley Street gets a holiday-themed makeover on the morning of July 4 as the annual parade kicks off and turns the normally busy Highway 101 into a red\, white and blue extravaganza. \nCommunity members and visitors from all over the county and beyond line the sidewalks of historic downtown Willits to watch the glitter\, horses\, dancers\, floats\, balloons\, gunfighters\, bands\, flags\, tractors — and usually a surprise or two — march down Main Street. \nSeveral entrants have made the parade an annual or generational tradition for their families – some riding since they were just little buckaroos including members of the Standley\, Persico and many other families. \nAnnual favorites include the winning and runner-up Willits Frontier Days Sweetheart contestants\, the current Grand Marshall and Heritage Award Winners\, Roots of Motive Power antique logging equipment\, Willits Horsemen’s Association\, Willits Police Department\, Little Lake and Brooktrails Fire Departments\, Cal Fire & CDF as well as many other emergency personnel – with sirens and lights blazing\, of course. \nThe announcer’s stand\, located at the corner of East Mendocino Avenue and Main Street introduces each entry and provides information on each group or individual participant. It also serves as the stage for the winner of the National Anthem contest to sing at the opening of the parade. \nThough many stake out seats in the coveted shady locations in the early hours of the morning\, the parade starts at 11 a.m. and is free to attend

DESCRIPTION:Sundays in the Park Free Concert Series is the largest and most recognized community event in Mendocino County. Since 1992\, the series has thrilled the community with exceptional musical performances by artists from diverse genres including blues\, classical\, country\, salsa\, soul\, rock\, swing\, reggae and more. Each summer\, taking center stage in beautiful Todd Grove Park\, six free concerts featuring world-renowned artists as well as local talent\, entertain more than 20\,000 music fans. \nBlair Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta\, Georgia\, with a drive to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. While playing small rock clubs around the Southeast he developed a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. He has toured the U.S and Italy playing festivals and has opened for acts such as Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Old Crow Medicine show. A multi-instrumentalist on guitar\, banjo and piano\, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of trumpet\, clarinet and trombone. His debut release “The Musical Stylings Of” became a college radio sensation on WRAS Atlanta making him the most requested band on the air. In 2012 Crimmins showed his musical diversity by writing and recording the full score for the independent short film “Old Man Cabbage”. The following year\, Crimmins was the critics pick for Best Song Writer of 2013 in Creative Loafing’s Best of ATL issue. His next album entitled Sing-a-longs! earned him a nomination at The Georgia Music Awards for Best Jazz Artist. After years of relentless touring the country and abroad Blair Crimmins released his 4th album of original ragtime music You Gotta Sell Something (2017)\, as well as a children’s album All Aboard (2019) and a 5th full length record featuring swinging covers of his favorite artists ranging from Louis Armstrong to David Bowie entitled “Okay Boom!” in 2021

DESCRIPTION:Sundays in the Park Free Concert Series is the largest and most recognized community event in Mendocino County. Since 1992\, the series has thrilled the community with exceptional musical performances by artists from diverse genres including blues\, classical\, country\, salsa\, soul\, rock\, swing\, reggae and more. Each summer\, taking center stage in beautiful Todd Grove Park\, six free concerts featuring world-renowned artists as well as local talent\, entertain more than 20\,000 music fans.\nJungle Fire brings an explosive blend of Afro/Latin funk\, fusing Afro-Caribbean and West African rhythms with deep\, breakbeat-driven grooves. Based in Los Angeles\, the band has built a global following with high-energy performances and releases on Colemine and Nacional Records\, including their acclaimed albums Tropicoso and Jambú (which hit No. 4 on the Billboard Latin charts).\nKnown for their dynamic live shows\, Jungle Fire delivers a mix of originals and funk classics in a nonstop\, dance-floor–igniting set. With an extreme passion for 60’s and 70’s soul\, funk\, rhythm and blues\, the band shares their music influenced by legends like Stevie Wonder\, Aretha Franklin\, Marvin Gaye\, Etta James\, Bill Withers and many more. The band formed in 2014\, by longtime Bay Area guitarist/vocalist\, Jason Movrich\, and is comprised of a tight group of top-notch musicians\, featuring the amazing vocal powerhouse\, Lydia Walker. The band’s latest release\, “Tongue & Groovin’”\, showcases their signature sound and displays the band’s love for classic sounds with a fresh and dynamic approach.\nWith a wide array of infectious dance grooves\, the band’s electrifying live shows prove they are one of the hottest live acts to come out of the Bay Area music scene in many years. “Our ultimate goal is to connect with our audience\, get you to feel the groove that makes you want to dance\,” says Movrich.
