SUMMARY:Willits Frontier Days Horseshow
DESCRIPTION:Equestrians have been showing their skills as an accomplished rider at the Willits Frontier Days Horse Show since the beginning of the event in the late 1920s. \nEnglish and Western disciplines are both showcased with equitation classes being judged on the rider’s abilities and pleasure classes on the horse’s abilities. Trail classes challenge riders over and through obstacles \, showmanship classes offer the entrants a chance to show their skills handling a horse on foot and hunter hack classes end with a two-fence jump that riders must clear. \nAge groups are specified for each discipline and a high point and reserve high point winner are selected from each and are awarded prizes for their day’s efforts. \nAlong with the high point awards\, five local perpetual trophies are also up for grabs. Three of the trophies are in memory of Barbara Hamilton\, John Fish\, Randy Clark and Don and Petie Coleman. The other two are sponsored by the R Horse Ranch and the Goss family. The Beer Garden offers cowboys and cowgirls a watering hole\, and something for the youngsters to long for. Dances are held at the Rodeo Grounds usually from 9 pm until midnight.
