Dec 12, or Dec 19, 2020 from 10:00am to 2:00pm (optional Field ID Walk – Dec 13 or Dec 20)
Learn the basic taxonomic identifying features that distinguish mushrooms from each other, where each unique mushroom species can be found, when they can be found, and the myths associated with them.
We have taken a fresh approach to this extremely popular winter workshop. The normally packed classroom will morph into a virtual in-depth learning experience from the comfort of home followed by a Field ID Walk (safety measures in place) at our 47 acre garden by the sea. The guided walk is optional, class participants can also explore our wild mushroom collection on their own time armed with a list of species commonly found at the Gardens and an MCBG Mushroom Map.
This workshop consists of an interactive virtual lecture with live demonstrations and an optional Field ID Walk to find mushrooms associated with the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens’ native plant communities.
Class size is limited. Class cost is $40 per participant and includes admission for the Field ID Walk ($30 – discounted rate for MCBG Members and Master Gardeners). Payment is due upon sign-up. Please note, all workshop fees are non-refundable unless the workshop has been canceled or rescheduled by the Gardens. Please reserve space for your preferred date by phoning 707-964-4352 ext. 19 or you can email [email protected] with your contact information.
Please remember, mushrooms found at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens should stay at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens… do not pick or collect!
