Red Wolf, a local Mendocino artist of international acclaim, returns with a show of his latest works for October. Red Wolf was a founding member of the Corner Gallery Ukiah founded in 2008. His work was on display there until 2011. He also acted as a key member of the Board of Art Center Ukiah the non-profit community gallery, a division of the Corner Gallery.
Red Wolf works on sandwiched honeycomb aluminum panels. He starts by etching on the aluminum to reflect light. Scoring highly reflective groove patterns he can produce a three-dimensional illusion approaching the fundamental characteristics of a rainbow diffraction gradient holography. The painted layers incorporate thin films, nanoparticles, and optical coatings to embed structural color elements. Today’s material science enables him to arrange nanostructures and effect optics creating artwork in ways unlike anything possible before.
Sharing his gallery space will be a painting, Cocoon, by Valerii Radko. Valerii is a Ukrainian artist in Ukraine. All proceeds from the sale of this painting will go 100 percent to support Valerii and his family in Ukraine. Corner Gallery supports working artists in Ukraine through this terrible war.
Red Wolf’s work can be seen at the Willits Hospital, Ukiah Emergency Room Lobby, Santa Monica and Walnut Creek medical facilities, internationally Nagoya and Osaka Japan, Beijing China, and Bahrain.
The show is open through October from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
