Opening Reception
Loved in California, stained glass and photography

The community is invited to the March opening exhibit at the Coast Highway Art Collective, Friday, March 20 from 3-7 pm. Featured artists this month are Vineeta Chand, 2D and 3D stained glass mosaics and Gabriella Lotan, storyteller and collaborative photographer.

Chand explores native California lived flora, fauna and beasties. Her work embraces the contemporary native California landscape. In this show, she spotlights perspectives of fungi, quirky wildfowl and related backstory landscapes.
Her stained-glass mosaic work spotlights the natural world. In this CHAC duet show, she leans into the earthy woodland setting, with her 2D outdoor friendly mushrooms (wall hangings), her 3D outdoor friendly concrete-based and stained-glass mosaic mushroom tops, and 3D birds, caught in flights of fancy, accompanying her well known framed glass landscape suncatchers of California.

Lotan is a storyteller, collaborative photographer, and medicine woman whose work explores the deep interconnection between beings and the living planet. Rooted in the cycles of nature, her art offers a perspective that “honors both the seen and unseen forces that shape existence” she explains. Through her photography and storytelling, she seeks to reclaim a habitat beyond imposed structures. Her work is an invitation to remember, to feel, and to embrace the raw intelligence of the body and earth.
Her 2024 collection, dear james, is an intimate and powerful reflection on a very personal loss, one that many women can identify with. Capturing the intensity of grief and transformation, the collection was photographed by Zubin Sahney on Pomo land at Point Arena’s This Will Take Time and Sea Ranch.
Save the date for the April opening exhibit on April 25. Every year, the Coast Highway Art Collective participates in the worldwide Almost Fringe Festival. This event encourages artists in every discipline to freely express themselves, without concern for the commercial restraints of their art. This year, the Collective is also exhibiting a miniature show in conjunction with Almost Fringe. It’s going to be a creative and fun exhibit, not to be missed. The show will be on exhibit from April 3-27.
Love in California will be on display from March 6-29 at the Coast Highway Art Collective, 284 Main St., Point Arena —the little red building with the big yellow sun—located next to the Redwood Coast Credit Union. Regular hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the website at coast-highway-artists.com for information about the collective’s artists, upcoming events, and how to join.
