Join scientists from the University of California to enjoy a guided hike through the beautiful 5,358 acre UC Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC), and enjoy seasonal delights showcasing the delicious foods available from Mendocino County.
Scientists will guide you through the oak woodlands and sheep pastures during this 3 mile hike, stopping along the way to describe their studies into wildlife, wildfire and climate change. Appetizers will be provided on your return to the green built Rod Shippey Hall, crafted from the seasonal bounty available including lamb produced at HREC, and wild foods collected at the site. You’ll also have the chance to purchase the new HREC t-shirt, lamb grown at the site and support future HREC researchers from school students visiting the site for a field trip, to postdoctoral scientists studying the pressing questions of today.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity bringing together science, nature and local food!
$30 per person. Limited to 25 attendees, pre-registration required.
