“The show is decidedly political without being biased…. Artfully illustrated that the issues dividing the two peoples today are rooted in their respective views of yesterday.” – M.J. Rosenberg, Israeli Policy Forum
Award-winning storyteller Noa Baum will present A Land Twice Promised: Palestinian and Israeli Women’s Stories at Gualala Arts on Wednesday, July 2, at 7 p.m. as a part of Gualala Arts’ Global Harmony Series.
Tickets are $25 in advance and +$5 the day of the event. They are available at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery, and online at GualalaArts.org. This performance is for adults and those 12 years old and up, tickets for ages 12-17 free with a paying adult.
Baum, an Israeli-born storyteller, engages audiences with a deeply personal and evocative narrative, woven from real-life experiences shared between herself and a Palestinian woman she befriended while living in the United States. Through their dialogue and the stories of their mothers, Baum crafts a moving testimony that illuminates the complex and often contradictory emotions surrounding Jerusalem—explored from both Israeli and Palestinian perspectives.
Her performance takes audiences beyond headlines and political rhetoric, offering an intimate glimpse into the lives of four women—two Israeli and two Palestinian—whose personal histories reflect the broader struggles of the region. The stories provide a powerful reminder of the importance of mutual compassion in overcoming divisions.
Baum’s storytelling challenges stereotypes and fosters deeper understanding. Her work has been praised for its ability to bridge divides and create meaningful connections.
There will be a book signing and Q & A following the performance.
