Zaza's Bakery, Bistro and Gallery
Just under a year old, Zaza’s Bakery, Bistro and Gallery seats about a dozen people, has an outdoor patio out front and is easily spotted from Highway 101 by its quirky yellow exterior, adorned with purple flags. The historical building was remodeled and opened in November 2010 and has become a local favorite for their baked fresh daily offerings, including East Coast bagels, seasonal éclairs, tarts and artisan bread as well as sandwiches and soups. Serving Big River coffee, owner Marlana River hopes to expand to international cuisine upon extending Zaza’s hours in the future. A ceramic artist, her work decorates the interior of the intimate art-filled space that was named after her granddaughter and is run along with her daughter, Simone. A longtime local farm owner, River uses apples, herbs, berries and eggs sourced from her own property. Fresh eggs are available daily to purchase.
