Abalone Tower & The Weller House Inn
The Weller House Inn
The Weller House Inn was built in 1886 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Featured in the New York Times and Sunset Magazine, it is a place of elegance and charm. The gardens and grounds make this a perfect place for weddings and family reunions. Walk to shops and restaurants, Glass Beach and beautiful parks.
There are delightful common rooms and nine luxurious guest rooms, two in the water tower topped by an observation deck which is the highest point in town. The tastefully furnished guest rooms each have private baths, some with large claw-foot tubs or Jacuzzis. Period décor, wood paneling, hand painted and marble tiles, wood and gas fireplaces, stained glass windows give a luxurious setting while fluffy down pillows and comforters with fine Egyptian cotton sheets provide ease and comfort.
The Virgin Redwood Ballroom at the top floor of the main house is a magical and charming space for dances, concerts, and parties, It is illuminated by windows with views of the town and ocean, and a beautiful hand forged bronze chandelier designed for the space by Coe Studios. The 900 square foot floor of old growth fir has been carefully renovated for your dancing pleasure. We host live music Salsa dances on the second Sunday of most months, and have frequent WHI-Tango Weekends with lessons and performances by world class Argentine Tango instructors, as well as the annual 12 day Dancing Fools Tango Fest around April Fool’s Day.
A hearty breakfast is served in the dining room, and a continental breakfast is available in the reception room, where there is also an afternoon wine hour. We use the finest quality ingredients, choosing organic, local, and sustainably produced goods whenever possible. We are also working towards addressing every aspect of innkeeping and event hosting with sustainable and green practices.
