Roederer Estate
Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine to be produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon the 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer French champagnes among the most sought-after in the world. Roederer's unique winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvée. By controlling its own destiny, Roederer achieves perfectly balanced champagnes, year after year, including the "Cristal" and "Brut Premier" labels.
The same winemaking philosophy has guided the development of Roederer Estate. Since 1981, Roederer has been quietly developing its own vineyards and crafting fine wines. Roederer Estate's Anderson Valley Brut debuted in October 1988, and the winery's first vintage cuvée, L'Ermitage, was introduced in 1993.
The 580-acre Anderson Valley vineyard and winery site was selected in 1981 by Jean-Claude Rouzaud, president of Champagne Louis Roederer and fifth generation descendant to manage the firm. Believing that estate-owned vineyards are essential to ensure top quality wine, Rouzaud had searched since the late 1970s for growing conditions in California similar to the best villages of France's Champagne region.
What he found was the Anderson Valley. Visit the Tasting Room, daily 11-5
