In 1908, Em and Al Byrnes opened their home to friends and acquaintances in the Bay Area who wished to vacation on the magnificent Eel River and get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of city life. (Yes, there was hustle and bustle in 1908!) Since 1946 the Adams family has continued the tradition of country farm stays at Emandal.
Today Tamara Adams, along with a number of her children and their spouses, operates Emandal's Family Camp program in the summer months, Environmental Education program for school groups in the spring, and hosts special events, groups and weddings at various times throughout the year.

Emandal is located 16 miles off Highway 101, northeast of Willits, California, approximately 140 miles north of San Francisco. We are 60 miles from the coast and 2 miles from the base of San Hedrin Mountain, one of the highest points in the Coast Range.
