New trail maps! hot off the press and complimentary at Catch a Canoe & Bicycles too
& Bicycles Too is located directly across from Mendocino's premiere bike path, the Big River Trail. Just a short ride from our shop, this scenic riverside trail is mostly level with alternating forest and river views. Or, explore the quaint historic town of Mendocino, then visit one of the several area state parks; all are accessible from our central location. Whether you are a novice seeking a leisurely outing — or an expert in search of an all-day expedition, we have everything you need for a seriously fun two-wheeled adventure.
Bicycle Rentals Our popular Cannondale hybrids put the rider in a comfortable upright position and feature an easy-shifting transmission. For the more radical rider, our mountain bikes are ready for any trail. Though we cannot accommodate small children, we do have a limited number of kids' bikes for young riders.
As part of the Stanford Inn by the Sea, we offer guests of the Inn complimentary use of bicycles during their stay. Otherwise, our rental period is from 9am until 5pm daily. We do offer overnight and multi-day rates. Bicycle availability is on a first-come first-served basis, so come early for the best selection. Helmets are provided with each rental, and are required for all riders.
Catch a Canoe Rentals Established in 1972, Catch a Canoe continues to provide a wide selection of kayaks, canoes, and outriggers, for exploring beautiful Big River and beyond. Custom redwood strip outrigger canoes, are available in several sizes to accommodate from one to nine paddlers. Stable, fast, and fun, each one is handcrafted to our specifications by Mendocino's own Secret Harbor Boat Works. We also offer traditional canoes for two to four paddlers, as well as single and double kayaks.
Tour Big River Climb aboard a unique 9 person redwood strip outrigger for an easy paddle, and experience Big River in a completely new and relaxing way. Tours for the 2010 season run from June through September, and include: Marine Mammal Eco Tour, Historical Tour, Birding Tour and the after dark Bioluminescence Tour.
