Redwood trees all around at Admiral William Standley State Park

Admiral William Standley State Recreation Area is at an elevation of 1,700 feet in the Coastal Range. It is located near the headwaters of the south fork of the Eel River. The park features 45 acres of redwoods and is a popular spot for salmon and steelhead fishing. The area is also a favorite place for hikers and picnickers.

California Coastal National Monument

Waves explode onto offshore rocks, spraying whitewater into the air. Sea lions bark as they “haul out” of the surf onto the rocks, and a whirlwind of birds fly above. These amazing rocks and small islands are part of the California Coastal National Monument, a spectacular interplay of land and sea.

Caspar Headlands State Park

Caspar Headland State Natural Reserve is located on the Pacific Coast in Mendocino County approximately 4 miles north of the town of Mendocino. The reserve is shared by a residential community in Caspar South, which lies on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Bordering the reserve to the north is Caspar Beach and RV Campground, and further north the town of Caspar.

Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree

The opening in the Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree was carved in the 1930's. To the right are Hazel and Charlie Underwood along with the foresters who helped carve the opening. At approximately 6' wide by 6'9" high there is ample space for the cars of today to pass through the tunnel. The Chandelier Tree derives it's name from the enormous branches balanced on either side of the trunk.

City of Ten Thousand Buddhas

Purchased in 1974, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is the hub of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association. The City is located in Talmage, Mendocino County, 110 miles north of San Francisco. The grounds cover 488 acres, and there are approximately 80 acres in active use.
